Ethiopian Students Make History at PAMO and PAIO 2026 as Bahir Dar University and esteemed partners Support Their Historic Achievement Ethiopian students achieved historic success at the 2026 Pan African Mathematics Olympiad (PAMO) and Pan African Informatics Olympiad (PAIO), earning multiple medals and an Honourable Mention. Bahir Dar University contributed to this achievement through the participation of students from its STEM Incubation Center, including PAIO Silver Medalist Nobel Desalegn Shetie and Bronze Medalist Mikiyas Shegaw Alemu. BDU also made significant contributions through the leadership and mentoring by its staff from the department of Mathematics, a special recognition to Abdu Mohammed (PhD), throughout the Olympiad preparation process. The achievements reflect the value of sustained training, mentorship, institutional support, and collaboration among universities, schools, professional associations, government institutions, and other partners. Building on this success, BDU remains committed to nurturing talented young Ethiopians and contributing to a stronger national pathway toward PAMO, PAIO, and Ethiopia’s first participation in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO).
