Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, Bahir Dar University (BiT-BDU), through its BiTec-incubated startup Agelgil Eco-Packaging, organized a training for engineering students. The training, part of the HEPSSA 2024 Project and funded by the Royal Academy of Engineering, aims to enhance engineering education in Sub-Saharan Africa by strengthening research and innovation pipelines.

In his opening speech, Dr. Amare Kassaw, Director of BiTec, welcomed participants and thanked the organizers for their efforts. He highlighted the significance of developing an entrepreneurial mindset and emphasized the core themes of the training: product development, innovation, and startup creation. He also encouraged students to actively participate and use the knowledge gained to transform their ideas into successful startups.

Trainers covered a range of key topics during the session, including research methodology, design thinking, product development, and corporate entrepreneurship. They also provided guidance on effective communication for engineers and strategies for fostering an innovative culture. Participants engaged in group discussions and experience-sharing sessions, which enhanced collaboration and enriched the overall learning experience.
