Bahir Dar University held a consultative discussion with its academic staff and researchers on a newly prepared study document outlining the Program Review, Reorganization, and Organizational Restructuring Process—a strategic initiative aimed at transforming the University into a research-oriented and autonomous institution.

The consultation brought together University President Dr. Mengesha Ayene, academic staff, researchers, and university officials. The forum served as a platform to present the proposed restructuring framework and gather constructive feedback from the University's academic community.
 

In his opening remarks, Dr. Mengesha stated that the study document is the outcome of extensive work by a multidisciplinary committee of experienced experts from various academic fields. He noted that the committee developed a long-term framework designed to support the University's transformation.

He emphasized that the proposed restructuring aligns with Bahir Dar University's strategic vision and is expected to strengthen academic quality, research capacity, governance, and institutional effectiveness, positioning the University as a nationally and internationally competitive research institution.
 

The Vice President for Academic Affairs, Professor Essey Kebede, presented the objectives, implementation strategies, and expected contributions of the Program Review and Restructuring Process to improving academic programs and institutional governance.

Professor Asamnew Tassew also provided a detailed presentation on the study document, explaining the rationale for the proposed reforms, the recommended structural changes, and their anticipated impact on the University's future development.

Following the presentations, participants actively engaged in discussions by raising questions, sharing observations, and offering constructive recommendations. The University President and relevant officials addressed the issues raised and provided further clarifications.

Concluding the forum, University officials affirmed that the comments and recommendations collected during the consultation will be carefully reviewed and incorporated into the final study document. The discussion reaffirmed Bahir Dar University's commitment to participatory governance and inclusive decision-making as it advances institutional reforms aimed at strengthening academic, research, and administrative excellence.
