University leaders from across Africa have emphasized the importance of strengthening African universities’ capacity to set their own research agendas, generate knowledge, conduct relevant research, and contribute to the continent’s development. They made these remarks during a panel discussion hosted by Bahir Dar University in collaboration with the Tana Forum Secretariat.

Bahir Dar University’s College of Medicine and Health Sciences has reviewed its performance against the 2025/26 plan and outlined key priorities for implementation in the 2026/27 fiscal year. The review forum, which also featured the presentation of the new annual plan, was held at Tibeb Hall with the participation of senior university officials, college leadership, academic staff, medical professionals, and administrative personnel.

Bahir Dar University has launched an induction training program for 125 newly recruited academic staff members, designed to familiarize them with the institution's operational procedures, strategic direction, and current status.
