Florida Gulf Coast University and Bahir Dar Institute of Technology Partner to Address Global Water Issues

A meeting between senior officials from Bahir Dar Institute of Technology (BIT) and Whitaker College of Engineering from Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) explored the possibility of a future collaboration. The meeting was attended by deputy scientific directors, faculty deans and leaders from BIT, and Dr. Huzefa Kagdi and Dr. Sinshaw from FGCU. Water management was the main topic of discussion, as both institutions have expertise and interest in this area. Dr. Efrem, from the Faculty of Civil and Water resources Engineering, showcased the researches, projects and partnerships related to energy, water and soil conservation at BIT. Dr. Mekuanent, deputy scientific director for research and community services, emphasized the potential research and various centers at BIT. Directors of various research centers at BiT also expressed their interests and ambition. FGCU representatives also introduced their university capacity, ongoing research projects, interests and collaboration plans. The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement to work together and a suggestion to sign a formal agreement in the future.
