We are delighted to announce that Mrs. Addis Aschenik Alaminie, a distinguished member of our faculty, has successfully defended her PhD dissertation at the Bahir Dar Institute of Technology (BiT-BDU). Her dissertation, titled “Integrating Multiple Satellite and Climate Model Product for Hydrologic Modeling in the Upper Blue Nile Basin, Ethiopia”, presented an innovative approach to hydrological prediction using advanced hydrological and recent climate models.

Mrs. Alaminie’s presentation included a comprehensive evaluation of multi-source soil moisture products, a topic on which she has published several papers in reputable journals. The defense was evaluated by Dr. Getachew Tegegne, Dr. Abdela Kemal, and Dr. Mulugeta Azeze, who posed insightful questions and comments. After much deliberation, the committee approved her dissertation with an ‘Excellent’ grade.

Her advisory board comprised of Professor Mark R. Jury, Chair of SDAC, Professor Seifu Admassu, Dr. Fasikaw Atanaw, and our faculty’s very own Mrs. Addis Aschenik Alaminie, all of whom are esteemed members of SDAC.
