Melkamu Belachew Moges (Ph.D.) is a prominent academic staff of Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia. He has earned three masters degrees, a PhD and an Honorary Doctoral Degree. He first joined the University in 2003 as an academic staff of the Law School where he taught several subjects for 3 consecutive years. In 2006, he got an opportunity to study his masters degree abroad (Sweden) in Land Administration which he concluded in 2008 with high achievement. Since then, Dr. Melkamu joined the young Institute of Land Administration and he pursued his teaching and research especially in the area of Land/Property Law, Land Administration and Policy. Apart from his extensive teaching and research service in the different academic programs of the Institute including the PhD Program in Land Governance and Policy, Dr. Melkamu has been actively involved in extra-academic activities of the University. Notable among his fruits are his founding of the Moot Court Competition Center and the Ethiopian Land Administration Professionals Association. Dr. Melkamu has widely traveled abroad for his studies as well as for conference participation and research presentation. He has won several outstanding scholarships which include the most recent Fulbrirght African Research Scholar (USA) to pursue a comparative research on land policy of Ethiopia and the USA, and the Australian Postgraduate Award (Australia) to pursue his PhD in the School of Law, Melbourne University. Besides, he has received an Honorary Doctor of Laws in 2018 from a recognized university in UK, and a UNESCO registered certificate on digital marketing. Last but not least, Dr. Melkamu is a thinker (in particular, he advocates for a peaceful cultural revolution, as opposed to the most tried political revolution, in Ethiopia) and he actively shares his perspective of the legal as well as the socio-political situation of his country in mainstream and social media.
