Belachew Yirsaw Alemu (Ph.D.) is assistant professor of Land Economics and Real Property valuation at the Institute of Land Administration, Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia. With an extensive academic background in Land Economics, Real estate economics and Real Property Valuation, his research focuses on critical areas such as land economics, land valuation, land policy, land tenure and land administration and management. Dr. Belachew has authored numerous scientific papers on a variety of topics, including Expropriation, Valuation and Compensation Practice in Ethiopia, Understanding the Bases and Approaches of Mortgage Valuation in Ethiopia, Land Governance Assessment Framework Analysis for Land Valuation and Taxation in Ethiopia, Urban Land Lease Policy of Ethiopia: Case study on Addis Ababa and Lease towns of the Amhara National Regional State, Understanding Urban Land Leasing System as a Strategic Value Capture Instrument to Enhance Urban Revenue in Ethiopia: A Case Study of Bahir Dar City. His research also addresses issues related to land valuation, land lease, Urban Local Government Capacity to finance urban Development and informal settlement. 

In addition to his research intervention, Dr. Belachew is a dedicated educator and advisor, mentoring M.Sc. students in Real Property valuation and land economics, Land Administration and Management. He has also served as Department head, and Vice Dean of the Institute of Land Administration at Bahir Dar University. He also teaches land economics, real estate valuation, and different economics and Land Administration courses for a long period of time. Currently, he is Dean of the Institute of Land Administration, Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia.
