Bekele Bedada Damtie (Ph.D.) is an Assistant Professor of GIS and Remote Sensing at the Institute of Land Administration, Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia. His expertise lies in land surveying, environmental solutions through GIS and remote sensing, cadastral surveying, and geo-information. He obtained his BSc in Surveying Technology from Adama University in 2007 and an M.Sc.. in Geodesy and Geo-informatics from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Stockholm, in 2012. Previously, he served as the Chair of Geodesy and Geo-informatics at the Institute. Dr. Bekele has made significant contributions in land surveying, satellite positioning, and GIS management, advancing the use of geospatial technologies in environmental monitoring, urban planning, and infrastructure development. Engaged in both academic and applied research, he has played a key role in promoting geospatial sciences for natural resource management and agriculture. His dedication to teaching and mentorship has had a lasting impact on students and professionals alike, and his research has been widely published in internationally recognized, peer-reviewed journals.
