Energy Utilization and Efficiency Enhancement in Food Processing: A CFD-Based Performance Enhancement of Electric Injera Baking Technology

BiT, Seminar Room #213

24 Apr, 2026

The seminar addressed the critical issue of energy utilization and efficiency in food processing systems, a sector contributing approximately 5% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Despite its environmental impact, cooking energy efficiency remains insufficiently explored due to fragmented research approaches and varying definitions of efficiency. This seminar aimed to bridge these gaps by introducing an integrated framework that combines experimental methods, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and exergy analysis.
