Program Description:
Industrial Engineering is the most important field that plays leading roles in the realization of industrialized led economy development of the country. Industrial engineering is an engineering profession that is concerned with the optimization of complex processes, systems, or organizations by developing, improving and implementing integrated systems of people, money, knowledge, information, equipment, energy and materials. The trend of Industrial Engineering Education up to now was to edify trainable, broad based industrial engineers confined in more theoretical activities that loosen sight from solving real world problem. The objectives of the Industrial Engineering program are to prepare students for successful careers as engineers and leaders and to prepare them for graduate study by providing.

Applicants should achieve the minimum score on Ethiopian Higher Education Qualification Certificate Examination (EHEQCE) or equivalent which satisfies admission cut point to higher education set by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Higher Education Relevance and Quality Agency.

Program Educational Objectives (PEO)

Industrial engineering Under Graduates program are expected within a few years of graduation to have:

PEO1: Established themselves as practicing professionals in the capacity as policy makers and leaders in government and industry and/or be engaged in advanced study in mechanical engineering or a related field. 

PEO2: Graduates will function effectively as an individual and as a member or leader in diverse teams and in multi-disciplinary settings. 

PEO3: Graduates will have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.

 Student Outcomes:

  1. An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics
  2. An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors
  3. An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences
  4. An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informal judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts
  5. An ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives
  6. An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions and 
  7. An ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies


 Program Delivery Modes

The Indutrial Engineering program is a full time based on-campus mode program offered during the day time via lecture, tutorial, and laboratory. Aside the traditional way of course delivery students will take a one semester intensive internship at different factories at a national level.
