Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory
The Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory, which is located in building B–15, is a teaching and research laboratory equipped to conduct standard tests for soils and rocks to assess their index and engineering properties.
The objective of having such laboratory is to make the students familiar with principles and procedures of testing of geotechnical materials, which are soil and rock.
Various experiments are conducted to evaluate and characterize the properties of soil and rock. Having conducted tests, the students and researchers have a chance to model their work with physical meaning. The laboratory also is used to prepared data for design sub-structures and superstructures as well, such as earthen dam.
Currently, it is being used as a testing laboratory for undergraduate and postgraduate students and researchers. It also gives consultancy services for private, governmental and non-governmental organizations.
List of tests which are conducting in the Geotechnical Laboratory;
- Different methods of Field Soil Sampling
- Water Content Determination
- In-situ Density determination using Sand Replacement Method
- In-situ Density determination Non distractive Nuclear Gauge
- Specific Gravity Determination using density bottle and jar methods
- Particle Size Determination (Sieve Analysis and Sedimentation Analysis)
- Determination of Consistency Limits tests (Liquid Limit, Plastic Limit & linear shrinkage limit)
