Dean’s Message
Greetings from Faculty of Civil and Water Resources Engineering (FCWRE), Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia
The Faculty offers diverse, competitive and demand-driven academic programs which range from bachelor’s degrees, masters, and PhD degrees. We have summer and regular programe. The faculty has three undergraduate, eight masters and nine PhD programs.
The faculty offers first degree (BSc) programs in Civil Engineering, Hydraulic and Water Resources Engineering, Water Resources and Irrigation Engineering. The faculty also gives Second degree (MSc) in Construction Technology and Management, Geotechnical Engineering, Road and Transport Engineering, Structural Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, Engineering Hydrology, Water Supply and Sanitary Engineering, and Irrigation Engineering and Management.
The faculty also gives Third Degree (PhD) in Construction Engineering and Management, Geotechnical Engineering, Road and Transport Engineering, Structural Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, Hydrology and Water Resources Management, Irrigation Engineering and Management and Water Supply and Sanitary Engineering.
FCWRE has the enviable record of producing the highest number of graduates in both undergraduate and post graduate programs. This enviable achievement was made possible by a team of dedicated academic staff, as well as hardworking and disciplined students. Our students are provided with numerous opportunities for experiential learning, such as group projects, laboratory experiments, field visits, and internships. Our graduates find opportunities in government and its associated agencies, non-governmental and private sector, self-employment as well as in research and training institutions.
The faculty has plentiful international research collaborations with universities from USA, Europe, Asian, and African. Our Civil Engineering program is internationally accredited through US based ABET system. Individually and collectively, our efforts to support you in reaching your educational goals breathe life into our mission and vision in ultimately promoting and improving your educational carrier and remain source of pride for the nation through education, research and innovation in your fields of study. Our aim is to help you thrive by providing you with an intellectually rich and inclusive environment that fosters your growth towards professional and scholarly work so you can advance technical, leadership, or research positions.
