We are delighted to announce that Kaleab Tsegaye Belhu, a PhD candidate in FCWRE, has successfully defended his PhD dissertation at the Bahir Dar Institute of Technology (BiT-BDU).
His dissertation, titled “An Integrated Fuzzy-Delphi-Dematel Decision Support System for Managing Cost Risks in Ethiopian Building Construction Projects,” focused on developing a cost risk management decision support system for the Ethiopian construction industry.
Mr. Belhu’s presentation also covered key components of his research, including assessing the utilization practices of risk management tools and techniques in the construction industry, investigating the critical risk factors contributing to cost overruns in the construction industry and designing a cost risk management decision support system that integrates the Ethiopian construction industry’s current practices through the evaluation of existing methods and recognition of barriers, ensuring its effective application in practice.
He has successfully published two articles and one conference paper out of his five PhD studies in reputable journals.
The defense was evaluated by Dr.Denamo Addissie, Dr. Bahiru Bewket, and Dr. Demesew Alemaw, who raised insightful questions and provided constructive comments. After thorough deliberation, the committee approved his dissertation with a grade of “Very Good.”
His advisory board comprised Dr.Asregedew Kassa Chair of SDAC, Dr.Asmamaw Tadege and Dr. Worku Asratie, all esteemed members of the SDAC.
