  • Geotechnical Engineering
  • Road and Transport Engineering
  • Structural Engineering
  • Construction Engineering and Management

Rationale of the Graduate Program
The rationale behind this PhD program is to educate students in advanced civil engineering topics and to enable them deliver solutions through research works for construction industry related problems, by forming collaborative relationships with construction industry and stake holders, for the benefit of the local universities and the nation at large.

The program is a step forward towards realizing the long felt needs of the country in training engineers equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge and practical training, to support frontier technologies and thrive for research endeavors which ultimately dissolve the notorious problems of the construction industry. The program may be offered in collaboration with external universities as “sandwich” course work or it can be completely supported by Bahir Dar University. The program is expected to give sufficient emphasis on project-based learning and research and development in order to equip the participants in the program with a better understanding of complex engineering problems.

Objectives
