The Faculty of Computing is one of the five faculties in the Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, Bahir Dar University. The faculty is currently teaching highly capable students both in the undergraduate and graduate programs. The process of teaching-learning that we follow mostly focuses on practice (lab-oriented) than the traditional lecture approaches. According to a 2019 tracer study conducted by the Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, more than 86% of graduates are engaged in various organizations nationally in Ethiopia and abroad.

There are currently significant vacancies in the global information technology sectors which need a high-caliber graduate. Therefore, our faculty is working to produce such graduates who meet international standards. Currently, we have 132 staff members among which 2 associate professors, 16 assistant professors, 69 lecturers, 11 assistant lecturers, 3 graduate assistants, and 31 technical staff. Many of our staff members are young and engaged in different activities like developing different enterprise solutions, training, research activities, involved in community engagements, and teaching.
