1.1. Department Overview
The Fashion Design Department at Bahir Dar University, part of the Ethiopian Institute of Textile and Fashion Technology (EiTEX), was established in 2003 E.C. (2010/2011 G.C). The department was founded to address the growing demand for skilled professionals in the textile and fashion industry in Ethiopia, promoting creativity and innovation in fashion design.
Initially offering a four-year study program, the curriculum integrates theoretical knowledge with practical skills, preparing students for various roles in the fashion industry. A significant component of the program is a semester-long internship, which enables students to gain hands-on experience and industry exposure.
