Alumni Stories: Pedawian Donated Books to EiTEX Community Library
24 Pedawian who were graduates of Bahir Dar University Peda campus, dominantly from the early 90s, had donated 871 books worth 297 thousand birr to BDU’s EiTEX Community Library. Similarly, 4 Peda graduates from late 90s with a pal name x² had added 43 books worth 16 thousand birr in commemoration to their 20th year graduation anniversary. In total, the Community Library received 914 books worth 309 thousand birr through the second-round alumni book donation campaign. This will take the overall alumni donation in two rounds to 1,364 books amounting to 409 thousand birr.
The books donated covered a wide variety of genres like accompanying guides to school subjects, novels, history, biography, self-help etc.
The book donation handover ceremony was attended by BDU’s Research and Community Service Vice President, Professor Enyew Adgo; EiTEX Scientific Director, Professor Tamirat Tesfaye; the library's Director Dr. Haile Abrha and Vice Director of the Alumni Affairs of BDU, Ato Tamiru Delelegn.

Professor Tamirat forwarded his heartily gratitude to the alumni donors and encouraged their fellow graduates to follow in their footsteps.
Besides, he requested the University to support the library's effort to fulfill basic facilities. Appreciating the donors, Professor Enyew suggested his office will try its best to improve the service quality and access level of the library particularly through developing projects that bring more external support. Ato Tamiru Delelegn had paid his utmost gratefulness to Peda graduates for their meaningful support which will help BDU to directly reach in serving the children and dwellers of Bahir Dar city. He indicated the alumni support will continue in the future involving graduates of various campuses. Dr. Haile also expressed his gratitude to the alumni and reiterated strong support from the University as the community library is at its initial phase.
