Aquatic Ecosystems and Environmental Management (AEEM)

Aquatic Ecosystems and Environmental Management (AEEM) a joint MSc program under the School of Fisheries and Wildlife in the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences. It is a program jointly developed by three universities namely; Bahir Dar University (BDU), Addis Ababa University (AAU), and Egerton University of Kenya. The project started in 2013 and has full backing from Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC). The initiative gave a lot of weight to the skill-oriented course components like lab and fieldwork, excursions, group projects, seminars, data analysis and interpretation, student presentations, report writing, and environmental modeling. As a result, only a small number of applicants are accepted into the program due to the fierce competition. The initiative provides various lab supplies for the main laboratory of the Blue Nile Water Institute (multimeter, plankton nets, water samplers, and different kits). Other people besides AEEM students can use these resources as well.  Universities and research centers hire most of the graduates of this program.
