The Applied Materials and Solar Energy (AMSE) Laboratory at Bahir Dar University is a multidisciplinary research unit dedicated to advancing materials science and solar energy. The laboratory integrates materials processing, advanced characterization techniques, and renewable energy technologies within a modern and rigorous research environment that supports in-depth scientific investigation, innovation, graduate student training, and collaboration.
Key research areas include surface science, interface engineering, nanomaterials, coatings, and thin films, as well as silicon- and perovskite-based photovoltaic systems. The laboratory also contributes to solar resource assessment, forecasting, and photovoltaic potential mapping in Ethiopia, supporting national renewable energy initiatives and sustainable development."
