Third round STEM pedagogy training held

The third round of training on STEM and Gender Sensitive pedagogy is held from July 17 – 25, 2019. On hundred primary school Science and Mathematics teachers from Amhara Region schools participated in the training. This phase of training particularly involved teachers from remote areas of the region – Wag Hemra and Oromo Nationality Zones.

Second annual project meeting held

The second annual project review meeting is held at Bahir Dar University from June 26 – 28, 1019. A representative from NORAD, Dr. Douglas Tendai Phiri, project team members and finance personnel from the partner institutions, dean and vice-dean of the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences at BDU, BDU STEM center directors, PhD candidates and Masters Students, and representatives from Amhara Regional State Education Bureau attended the meeting.

MOU signed with Amhara Regional State Education Bureau

Bahir Dar University and Amhara Regional State Education Bureau signed memorandum of understanding for collaboration in implementing the planned activities in the BDU-NORHED project. The region is the main stakeholder in the project particularly in the training of 42 Masters Candidates and 440 primary school science and mathematics teachers in the life time of the project. Dr. Firew Tegegne, president of Bahir Dar University and Dr. Yilkal Kefale Amhara regional State Education Bureau head signed the MOU on behalf of Bahir Dar the respective institutions.

Second round STEM pedagogy training held

The second round of STEM pedagogy training is provided to 101 primary school Science (61) and Mathematics (40) teachers from July 3 – 11, 2018 at the main campus of Bahir Dar University. Training modules are prepared and distributed around four issues: STEM pedagogy, Gender Responsive Pedagogy, Multiple Intelligence and Assessment, and Action Research. The trainees came from 22 primary schools from six zones of Amhara regional State.
