EiTEX begins third annual conference

BDU:Ethiopian Institute of Textile and Fashion Technology (EiTEX) has commenced its third International Conference on “Cotton, Textile and Apparel Value Chain in Africa."

Honourable Mr. Taddesse Haile, State Minister for Ministry of Industry,FDRE stressed while official opening the conference that the textile and garments sector is enormously contributing to Ethiopia’s five years Plan of Growth and Transformation.

Ethiopia as an emerging nation, said Mr. Tadesse, prioritizes textile and garments in its endeavour of development. “The nation’s effort of realizing its vision of development will only be assured with the contribution of higher education”, Mr. Taddesse said.

“The university expects from this conference inputs on the current endeavor of transferring, developing and creating science and technology”, BDU’s President, Dr. Baylie Damtie, said while addressing the participants.

The Scientific Director of EiTEX Addissu Ferede(Assistant Professor) informed the participants that the conference focuses on ‘Quality of Productivity, Global Scouring, Domestic Export Marketing Practices, Role of SME, Technology Upgrading, New Technology Management and Related Issues in Textile, Garment and Leather Manufacturing.'

Among the attendees were Mr. Taddese Haile, State Minister of Industry of FDRE, Mr. Sileshi Lemma, Director General of Ethiopian Textile Industry Development Institute, Mrs. Nigist Hailu, Founder and Executive Director of Centre for African Women Economic Empowerment (CAWEE),and representatives of Amhara National Regional States.
