BDU student becomes one of the Winners of Tana Forum Essay Competition

 

Sagni Getu Sori, a Second year Peace and Conflict  Studies MA student in Bahir Dar University is  selected as the third place winner of the Tana Forum Annual Essay Competition of this year on the theme : "The AfCFTA*: A Milestone for Pan-Africanism and Conflict Transformation".

 

In his essay: “The Implications of the Latest Political Developments in the Horn of Africa for the Utilization of AfCFTA and its Impediments”, Sagni assessed the recent developments in the geopolitical landscape of the horn of Africa and the implications of these either as impediments and/or opportunities for the enforcement of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

 

As one of the winners, Sagni will have a mentor assigned to further work on and develop his essay for the official Tana forum presentation, set to be held in October, 23-25, 2020.  During the forum, Sagni will also have the opportunity to interact with high level states men and women, civil society leaders and academics, and will establish networks for the further development of his career.

 

 

This is a second time in a row a BDU student wins the Tana forum essay competition. It is remembered that a student from the graduate studies program in Political Science was one of the winners of last year’s edition of the program.
