Tibebe Ghion Specialized Hospital inaugurates Mural Paintings and Interior Design works of its Pediatrics Ward.

(December 31, 2021, Bahir Dar): Tibebe Ghion Specialized Hospital inaugurated today the Mural Paintings and Interior Design works of its Pediatrics ward. In collaboration with ReachAnother Foundation (RAF), the hospital has made a substantial improvement on the pediatric ward with Mural Paintings and Interior Design.

The ward has been decorated with paintings and drawings to create child-friendly environment and great vibes that has a huge healing effect. Creating pediatrics-friendly environment with various paintings and drawings is also one of the major standards the hospital has been aggressively working to meet.

On the occasion, Dr. Zebenay Bitew, Chief Clinical Director of the hospital stated that art has a significant role in treating children as it creates an entertaining ambiance which in turn has a pain relief impact.

He appreciated RAF for its exemplary partnership with the hospital and its contributions in improving the pediatric ward with such attention-grabbing and fascinating paintings. He also offered his appreciation to Mr. Eyayu for his significant contributions in making mural paintings and interior design of the pediatric ward.

Dr. Senay Zerihun, Head of Pediatrics Department, on his part said that the paintings made means a lot for children who get clinical services at the hospital. He said that it totally transformed the atmosphere of the ward which has a huge role in treating children. He reiterated that such stress-free entertaining environment makes children happier and willing to get treatment and can have a positive impact on their quick recovery.

The paintings have been made by artist Eyayu Genet. He was awarded a certificate by the college for his extraordinary and priceless contributions in making Mural Paintings and Interior Design of the Pediatric ward.

On the event, Mr. Eyayu expressed that in a country like Ethiopia, art should play a tremendous role in social, economic and political activities of the people. He added that art has to contribute its part in criticizing, inspiring, and transforming the society. Mr. Eyayu underscored that, hence, the pediatric ward of Tibebe Ghion Specialized Hospital has been decorated with intention of creating a stress-free environment that has a soothing effect on the patients. He also added that the animals, trees, colors, things, etc painted and drawn on walls of the ward have been selected on the basis of scientific children and color psychology assumptions. They have also been adapted to suit Ethiopian culture and context.

Mr. Eyayu extended his gratitude to Professor Yeshigeta Gellaw, Chief Executive Director of the college for his dedication in improving the clinical service provisions in general and efforts he exerted in creating child-friendly pediatrics ward. He also acknowledged other staff members for their support in several ways.

It is to be recalled that ReachAnother Foundation (RAF) has won the best partner of the year award of the college in the year 2021.
